After Shock Generation exists to reach non-believing young people, and equip them to become disciples, to help them ascertain their ministry from God, to connect with other Christian teens and honor God with their life.

Our youth ministry is built around the five purposes found in the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

    • Worship: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart”
    • Ministry: “Love your neighbor as yourself”
    • Evangelism: “Go and make disciples”
    • Fellowship: “Baptizing them”
    • Discipleship: “Teaching them to obey”

Values

A place to encounter Jesus

When we meet, our goal is to encounter Jesus and experience His life changing power. We do that as we pray, worship, learn from the Bible and share honestly together. God’s purpose for each one of us is to become more and more like Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14)

A place to belong

We need to develop a sense of community that is built on strong, caring relationships. This should be a place where we can be open and transparent without fear of rejections. Everyone needs to recognize that they have a role to look out for other members of the group. We are looking for true community where love is a priority. (John 15:13)

A place to grow

We want to create an environment that facilitates growth in every individual’s life. It may be overcoming an area of sin in your life, developing discipline in your personal life, or working through a difficult relationship. We want to provide a framework of accountability to enable each person to grow. (2 Peter 3:18)

A place to give

We are not dominated by few strong individuals but rather a place where everyone has an opportunity to participate. Each person has gifts and talents that they can contribute to the group. This is a place where we can learn to exercise spiritual gifts in a safe environment, where we can serve one another and encourage each other. (Hebrews 10:23-25)

A place to reach out

We are not an exclusive group for a few Christians but we need to be inclusive of those not yet Christian. People not yet Christian should be able to learn from our group before they have made a definite commitment to Christ. (Matthew 4:19)

Matthew 22:37-40

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
